These gator pliers are well made( made in USA). I did imagine the tips were straight , but they have slight curve to them , which I could see from the picture. I have not used them ,yet but I have no doubt that they will come in handy taking off or loosening all types of filter's depending on location and acess or a stuck valve or lawn mower blade nut or bolt, countless applications , another words use's . Thanks Amazon
